A new beginning!

Hi, and welcome to my new little spot on the interwebs! My name is Lisanne, I’ve been brought in this world 22 years ago and I live in The Netherlands. Some of you, especially if you’re Dutch, might know me from my Dutch bookblog Oh My Book. A couple of months ago I started thinking about blogging in English. As some of you also might know, I’m very active on bookstagram and have been putting a lot of work into my account. About a year ago I switched to English on my bookstagram and that was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. It is so nice to be able to connect to so much more people and lovely bookstagrammers that are not necessarily from The Netherlands. It felt like blogging in English is the next logical step for me.

I have thought very long and hard about this though. Because I knew some of my Dutch followers would not like it if I’d go English. But then again, it is my blog and even though I like to please the lovely people that read and follow my blog, in the end, it is my blog and I do it because I love it. So I guess I made a selfish decision and chose me. Because blogging in English is really something that I want to be doing. And it’s not just that his way I can reach more people, no, it’s also because I genuinely love the English language, and enjoy using that language. A little side note since I am not a native English speaker I will probably make a lot of mistakes languagewise. I apologize, but I’m trying. If you see any mistakes, feel free to reach out to me. Feedback is always helpful.

So what can you expect on this blog? Books, books and more books! Well, that is kind of obvious, this being a bookblog and all. I will write reviews, I will write about Bookstagram, I will chat about my reading experiences, my TBR’s, my wrap-ups, basically everything bookish. There are also somethings that I did on my Dutch blog that I’m going to continue doing.

Every summer I organise a readathon called the OhMyBookathon, I’m still going to be doing that. So that is something you can expect in 2018. It is one of the things I love doing and I’m not going to stop now. The same goes for Bookmas. In the month of December, I organise Bookmas, which is basically a celebration of Christmas along with giveaways, an Instagram challenge and lots of Christmas related content. Again, I’m going to continue that as well. Bookmas is actually going to be fairly quick, so stay tuned for that.

Again welcome! And I hope that you’ll be following me on this new journey. So I’ll sign of saying see you soon.

Hi Lisanne! I definitely get wanting to write in english! My native language is spanish and my first motivation to having created my blog in english too was because of how much I love the language! I just felt like it flowed more? Like my true self shined a bit better when I write than in spanish. And of course, the wider audience was no small factor!

Best of luck with the blog! I’m totally digging the look! And your bookstagram looks gorgeous! I keep changing my theme and now I’m experimenting with filters XD

Haha, thanks! And you’re welcome! Language is definitely something we don’t talk about much but a large part of the community has different native languages but decided to hop on the english train XD
