Recipe: an Autumnal loaf cake

Recipe: an Autumnal loaf cake

I love to bake, I usually go for the basic stuff, but what is wrong with that?! Last Sunday I felt like baking, and since I didn’t feel like going to the supermarket and I thus had to make do with the ingredients we had lying around I decided to make a simple loaf cake. I always find those delicious! To make it a little bit autumnal, I added some cinnamon. Well, to be honest, I like to add cinnamon to everything I bake, it’s just so tasty. What you need A 30cm loaf cake tin250gr granulated sugar250gr butter (room…

Bookreview: Stranddagboek (Beach Read) by Emily Henry

During the recent heatwave here in The Netherlands I was really in the mood for a nice summer read. So when I got send Stranddagboek (Beach Read) by Emily Henry I felt that would be the perfect book to read. And I was so right! We had a little paddling pool in the garden because that was basically the only way to get through the day. I read most of this book in that little pool, quite appropriate right. Ok, I guess reading this at the beach would have been even more appropriate, but I’m not really a fan of…

Imagine coming home and there’s strange people moving into your house. Dreary right?! I just had to read it and I had a feeling I’d devour it. And so I did! Bookreview: My Dark Vanessa by Kate Elizabeth Russell

Wow, what a book this is… When I mentioned on my Instagram that I was about to read this book I got warned by quite a few people. That this was definitely not going to be a light read, and they were so right. If you’re looking for a nice feelgood easy to read book you should totally skip this one, because My Dark Vanessa is – as the name also suggests – quite a dark read. My Dark Vanessa by Kate Elizabeth RussellPublished by Fourth Estate on March 10th 2020372 pages★★★★☆ An era-defining novel about the relationship between a…

My Reading Rush TBR

My Reading Rush TBR

It’s been a hot minute since I participated in a readathon, but honestly, I feel like I need one! I haven’t been reading much these last couple of months at all and that needs to change. I love reading, I know that, but somehow I have a hard time actually picking up a book and making time to read. It’s so much easier to just put on some YouTube video or a Netflix show, but I know that in the long run, I will enjoy a book much more. So it’s time to just read again! I saw that the…

My new Instagram aesthetic

My new Instagram aesthetic

I have basically had the same Instagram theme, or way of editing, for years. My photos have changed, but the editing has always more or less stayed the same. And I was so down! I got into a real bookstagram rut. I just didn’t like my pictures anymore and I also had no idea what to photograph. It was time for a change! Someone then suggested I try the app Lightroom… and that was the beginning of my new theme. I have used VSCO to edit my photos for so so long. I’ve loved it, but lately, I just didn’t…

Chitchat: Losing my doggy friend & being in a bit of a rut

If you follow me on Instagram you have probably seen my doggy friend Alice a couple of times. She wasn’t my dog exactly, she was our friends, but she has always felt a little like my dog. I’ve known her ever since day one, and that was back when I was still a little girl. So I have in a way grown up with her. Since they only live a couple of blocks away, we saw her all the time and always looked after her whenever they had to go somewhere. Our house was definitely home to her as well.…

When I heard about this book I just knew I had to read it. And I also thought it would be the perfect pick for the Oh My Book Club… I mean come on, a book about a book club… that’s pretty accurate right?! Now this book is not just about any book club, it’s about a secret men only book club, and they read romance! Doesn’t that sound awesome? Book club: Havenfall by Sara Holland

One of my most anticipated read of the year was the book club pick for March; Havenfall by Sara Holland. I absolutely loved her debut novel Everless, so I was naturally very excited about this book. And I just have to say the cover of this book is unbelievably pretty. One of the prettiest covers I’ve seen in a while. And the Dutch edition is even a little bit more beautiful because it has a seal and it folds all around the book, stunning! But is the inside just as pretty?!
