Monthly Playlist: April & May

Whoops, I missed a monthly playlist. Time just goes by so fast. So this time I’ve got two months to share with you; April & May. While Aprils one is very lengthy May is actually quite short. But still, more than enough new music to enjoy.

My top song in April has got to be Monopoly by Ariana Grande and Victoria Monet. Yes, there she is again. It feels like Ari is in every single monthly playlist… Well, she brought out this song really randomly and I have to admit, the first time I heard it I wasn’t convinced. I thought it was a bit boring. I just didn’t like it, but as I listened to it a couple more time I got obsessed with it. Now it’s a song I play on repeat. Over and over again… I feel like it’s a really sassy, ‘here I am, don’t fuck with me’ kind of song. I love it!

Next up is Khalid, he released his new album Free Spirit in April and I’ve been listening to it a couple of times. It’s a really nice laid back album. My fave song on it is Outta My Head. It’s a great song, but as a bonus, it’s also a collaboration with the one and only John Mayer. He’s not singing on it, but he is playing the guitar. And any John Mayer guitar solo is just marvellous.

Then there are two songs that have been giving me that spring/summer feeling. The first one being Late Night Feelings by Mark Ronson ft. Lykke Li. Love it! It’s been stuck in my head for days, it’s so groovy! The second one is Summer Days by Martin Garix ft. Macklemore and Fall Out Boy. I’m not a Martin Garix fan at all, but this song is just really good; potential 2019 summer hit.

And then we have Beyoncé. She brought out her Coachella documentary Homecoming on Netflix, and she also brought out a live album which had a new song called Before I Let Go. It’s actually a cover of a very old song, but since I hadn’t heard of it before it just sounds like a new song to me. And I obviously love it! Can’t wait to hear more new music by Beyoncé.

Honestly, these are just a couple of songs that are on this lengthy playlist. I’d say just give it a play. Maybe you’ll discover some new music yourself!

Moving onto May! We have to talk about Ed Sheeran. I’m so so happy he is releasing new music again. Though I have to say I did not expect he’d do an album full of collabs. He released two songs in May; I Don’t Care ft. Justin Bieber and Cross Me ft. Chance the Rapper & PnB Rock. I love ’em both, but I have to say I mostly play Cross Me. That song really surprised me. I do not like rappers, at all. But this song has just won me over, and it has kind of a summer feel to it which I like. I can’t wait till he releases the album in July.

Shawn Mendes also released a new song; If I Can’t Have You. It’s a fantastic pop song if you ask me. I did not expect new music from him so soon, and also not while he’s still touring his latest album. But hey I’m not complaining!

Another great song is Easier by 5 Seconds Of Summer. I absolutely love this, the vocals are just epic. I can definitely not sing along to it, those notes are really freaking high! The only downside to this song is that it is only 2:37 minutes long.

I also want to mention Numb by Dotan. He is a Dutch singer that kind of disappeared for a year after he did something really stupid. I don’t want to get into that, but he is back now! And I am glad he is. I always loved his music and this new song he’s released is just fantastic. It even gives me Imagine Dragons vibes and I love that!

Lastly, I’ve also been listening to a couple of albums a lot this month. May was the month of Eurovision (which I wrote a whole blogpost about) and because of Eurovision, I discovered the album Gioventù Bruciata by Mahmood. And I have been absolutely loving that one, I have a weakness for Italian music. Not that I have any idea what he’s singing about, but I just like it. Another album I’m loving is LOVE + FEAR by MARINA. This album is really giving me all the summer vibes.

What have you been listening to lately?
