Room Make-Over #1 Inspiration

I am so excited, next weekend I’m going to be doing a room make-over. It is about time. Most of the paint in my room has been on the walls since we’ve moved in, which is about 11 years… The walls just really need to be freshened up. There are all kinds of marks and holes and tears in the walls, so yeah I’m excited for some new paint. Right now my walls have really neutral taupe’ ish tones. Even though I still love it, I do wanna do something different so I’ve chosen two green colours. I’m not gonna lie, I am a bit nervous about this, you never know how paint is going to turn out before it’s actually on the wall. I went to the store for some samples, but they’re so small. So I hope I made the right decision, but I think it’s going to be really cool and that it’s going to look cool with all of my plants.

These are the two colours I picked out, a darker shade of green and a lighter one. I’m so curious how it’s going to look. I just hope it’s not going to be too dark. There’s only one way to find out I guess…

Originally we were just talking about painting the walls. But for that to happen all the furniture needs to be removed from the room. So why not spruce the whole room up?! My dad came up with this idea to switch out the layout, but with the furniture I currently have that just wouldn’t work. So now I’ve also gone ahead and got a new – smaller – desk so it will fit. We’re still not a hundred percent sure if it’s going to work, but I have high hopes and the new layout will give me some extra space which would be great because my room is quite small.

The last two weeks I’ve spend clearing my whole room out. I’ve filled about 9 bin bags full of stuff and I’ve also got some other stuff that can go to the thrift store. It’s been quite a lot of work, and not the most fun either.. but now that it’s done it’s so worth it. I usually do a clear-out once a year, not as big as this one though, but I’m always amazed by how much stuff I collect over a year. Anyhow, it feels good to have sorted everything out. Besides clearing out, I’ve also spent a lot of time on Pinterest to get an idea of what I wanted. Pinterest is my best friend right now! Literally, it’s perfect for when you want to do anything interior related. And then I’ve also been shopping. As I’ve said, I got a new desk, but I also got a Kallax shelving unit for my vinyl – which I’m excited about because my vinyl is currently hidden in a cupboard due to lack of space. So I’m happy that’ll be on display from now on. I got a new desk chair, a new lamp shade, a roller blind and I’ve ordered some new curtains. I’ve also got something pretty exciting to go on the walls, but I’ll tell you more about that soon. The rest of the furniture is going to stay, just in a different place. I also need to get some new shelves, but I’m still deciding which size and which colour I want to get, I keep going back and forth… making decisions can be tough sometimes.

Let me show you some of the images I pinned for inspiration… It’s basically going to be a green botanical Scandinavian room with a little hint of mustard yellow. I just wanted to break up the green a bit, so I thought mustard would be a good accent colour.

I am so excited for this weekend, and I can’t wait to see how it’ll turn out. I will keep you updated on my Instagram and I will also make a new post once the room is done (also including some before pics).
